Arkansas vs LSU

November 21, 2011 in Arkansas Razorbacks

Wow.. What a Week in Week 12 of the 2011 college football season literally oozes with implications from a national, conference and divisional standpoint.

Contests that once were circled in red as absolutely critical have been downgraded to minimally important, while other games that at one time seemed possibly intriguing are now the matchups that will be deciding factors in the race to grasp a steaming hunk of championship hardware.

The 2011 regular season finale pitting LSU vs. Arkansas always had the potential to be fraught with meaning, but after the monumental post-Week 12 reshuffle, suddenly, it is the hinge on which the SEC West door swings.

The scenario is complicated (and includes the need for Auburn to knock off Alabama), but simply put, if the Hogs triumph in Baton Rouge this coming Friday, then we’ve got a real mess on our hands.

Suddenly, LSU goes from having punched their ticket to the SEC title game and the BCS national crystal pigskin festivities to finding a back door into the dance, and then what about Arkansas, Alabama, Stanford, Virginia Tech and other potential one-loss winners with their eye on the big prize?

What do you think about it? Will and Can Arkansas beat LSU? I think they Can and they will beat LSU causing all kinds of headache for the BCS top 3. I look at it this way, Arkansas will win and drop LSU Below Arkansas? and Alabama goes to the SEC championship game but Auburn could Beat Bama? what do you think? very possible!! come on Auburn! Rarely would I root for another SEC team, but this weekend I will have my Auburn shoes on waiting for a Miracle upset!

Arkansas News Bureau • rneiswanger@arkansasnews.com
FAYETTEVILLE — Alabama knows Arkansas is starting a freshman on its offensive line. It’s no secret.
Tackle Mitch Smothers became the first Arkansas freshman to start up front in an opener when he played with the group against Missouri State. He has remained there the past two games, too, working out on the edge against New Mexico and Troy.
Alabama linebacker Dont’a Hightower said Smothers has performed well so far. But he also was honest about something else: Alabama plans to test him.
“I feel like we’re going to have to use that to our advantage whenever it comes down to pass rush situations,” Hightower said. “I feel like me and (linebacker) Courtney (Upshaw) are probably guys that will go after that guy a little bit more.”
Smothers will face his biggest challenge when the 14th-ranked Razorbacks (3-0) play at No. 3 Alabama (3-0) on Saturday, clashing with Upshaw and Hightower. But the freshman won’t be alone.
Arkansas’ line, which was labeled as the team’s question mark in the preseason, will be counted on to protect quarterback Tyler Wilson in Bryant-Denny Stadium.
It’s an opportunity the Hogs have been preparing for since preseason practice opened in August. And they’re confident, despite a few hiccups through three games, they’ll stand up to the test.
“It hasn’t been what we’re expecting and what it’s expected to be,” Smothers said about the pass protection. “We have to get it better, especially this upcoming Saturday. But we’ll be all right.”
Wilson was sacked three times in the Troy win and six times this season. More concerning: Wilson was under pressure on numerous other occasions last week, running from a defense that brought blitz after blitz.
Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino said the number of hits Wilson has absorbed so far — some of which have been the quarterback’s fault — is “concerning.” The junior missed the second half of the New Mexico game after suffering concussion-like symptoms following a touchdown run in the second quarter.
“We need to do a better job of protecting at times,” Petrino said. “He’s got to get rid of the ball quicker at times. I always talk about 11 guys pass protection. It takes all 11 of us, the timing of the receivers, the timing of the quarterback, the protection. It’s everybody’s responsibility to make sure we keep the quarterback clean.”
Another rash of breakdowns Saturday could cause problems against Alabama’s physical defense.
The Crimson Tide enters the game not satisfied with the amount of pressure it has put on quarterbacks, either. Surprisingly, Alabama has four sacks in three games. Coach Nick Saban said the bigger key is how much pressure is being applied, but agreed with players that there must be improvement this week.
“I feel like we’re doing a decent job getting pressure on the quarterback, as far as making him feeling uncomfortable,” Hightower said. “And letting him know that we’re in his face or right behind him or putting pressure on him. I feel like we’re doing a really good job of that. But we still have some things in our arsenal that we haven’t let out yet.”
So communication will be key for the Razorbacks on Saturday. Some of the responsibility falls on Wilson’s shoulders, making sure he recognizes what Alabama is doing defensively. Running backs will shoulder responsibility, too, in picking up blitzes when they come from different directions.
Smothers realizes, too, he could be targeted by Alabama because he’s a freshman tackle making his road debut. But it’s fine with him, because there are “10 other guys out on the field.”
Collectively, Arkansas’ goal is making sure Wilson’s jersey remains clean Saturday.
“He’s taking too many hits right now,” Arkansas running back Ronnie Wingo said. “We’ve just got to protect him, protect him more this week. Especially this week. Now it’s time for real ball.”

University of Miami Death Penalty?

August 18, 2011 in College Sports

So, it looks like that the “U” (University of Miami)could be in a bit of trouble

And if the allegations revealed in this startling report authored by Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports prove to be true, then the University of Miami’s football program should become the second team in the last 25 years to receive the NCAA’s “Death Penalty”.

I have found it very interesting to say the least. As detailed convincingly in his well-researched report, Mr. Robinson writes that Hurricanes booster Nevin Shapiro – currently incarcerated for his role in a $930 million Ponzi scheme – allegedly provided thousands of impermissible benefits to at least 72 athletes from 2002 through 2010. And, supposedly, several coaches from Miami’s football and basketball programs were aware of these behaviors. Shame shame on those coaches! Stupidity at its best maybe?

And we’re not talking about the occasional free dinner, t-shirt, bowling money, or an airfare home to be with a sick relative. We’re talking prostitutes. We’re talking multimillion-dollar homes and yachts.

Don’t forget about the upscale nightclubs in South Beach, and lots and lots of Jewelry!

Even more than that. I havent ready the whole article on yahoo yet, but I wanted to sum it up!
so what do you guys think about it? Should they receive the Death penalty?

Mr. NCAA President Mark Emmert, this is your chance to step up to the plate and make an example of a school that has mocked what your organization stands for over the better part of the last 25 years.

The recent infractions of USC, Ohio State, and Tennessee don’t collectively add up to even one-quarter of the severity of rules violations and institutional chaos that seemingly exists at “The U”…assuming Mr. Robinson’s report and Mr. Shapiro’s testimony are 100% accurate.

If the NCAA does not act swiftly and definitively against the University of Miami’s athletics department and football program for it’s seemingly blatant lack of institutional control, then President Emmert should step down from his post because he would prove himself a sheepishly inept and spineless leader that failed to seize the hour and make an example of the classroom bully.

It appears that the “Death Penalty” is The ONLY Logical Punishment

SMU football suffered from the “death penalty” by having their seasons cancelled in 1987 and 1988 while also losing 55 football scholarships over a span of 4 seasons. As a result, a once-promising program had only one winning season over its next 20, and didn’t reach another bowl game until 2009.

The University of Miami has long been perceived as a renegade program. Something that ESPN’s 30 for 30 piece reinforced, and something that Mr. Shapiro’s alleged activities further corroborate.

Abolishing the Hurricanes football program over the course of the next 2 seasons must be done if the NCAA is serious about “sending a message” to cheaters.

You want to clean up the landscape of college athletics, NCAA?

Then you must act swiftly and severely when faced with repeat offenders.

Just a thought after hearing about what the “U” has done!

Update from the Miami Herald:
Miami Hurricanes may declare investigated players ineligible
.

If UM wants the 12 or more football players under NCAA investigation to have a chance to play in the season opener, it likely will declare them ineligible within the next week.

If UM wants the 12 or more football players under NCAA investigation, including Jacory Harris, to have a chance to play in the season opener, it likely will declare them ineligible within the next week.

If it hasn’t already, the University of Miami is expected to declare the 12 or more football players being investigated by the NCAA ineligible within the next week if the school wants the NCAA to rule on their reinstatement in time for the season opener Sept. 5 at Maryland.

Miami also can choose to let some or all of the players participate, but if they are found to have violated NCAA rules, the university would risk stiffer penalties.

UM had not declared the players ineligible as of early Wednesday afternoon, according to a source with knowledge of the investigation.

“If those players aren’t first declared ineligible, then reinstated, before they participate and they’re found to have violated rules, the school will be in much deeper trouble,” the source said.

When asked Wednesday night if any of the football players had been ruled ineligible, UM associate athletic director for communications Chris Freet said, “We’ll announce all that as soon as we get the information.”

The NCAA needs enough time to evaluate each player’s situation individually before making a decision on whether that player must sit out a designated number of games. After UM declares the players ineligible, which is expected, it petitions the NCAA for reinstatement of those players.

They can be reinstated immediately with no penalty, which is what happened last year to Auburn quarterback Cam Newton, or they can be made to serve a one-game or multigame suspension, which is what happened when five Ohio State players were declared ineligible by the school, then told by the NCAA they would be reinstated after sitting out the first five games for receiving impermissible benefits.

Under investigation

UM president Donna Shalala said Monday in a video that the university and NCAA, through a joint investigation, were reviewing the eligibility of 15 student-athletes — two more than were originally thought. At least 12 of them were football players, almost all of them starters or prominent players. The 12: quarterback Jacory Harris; defensive tackle Marcus Forston; receivers Travis Benjamin and Aldarius Johnson; safeties Ray-Ray Armstrong and Vaughn Telemaque; defensive ends Adewale Ojomo and Olivier Vernon; linebackers Sean Spence and Marcus Robinson; cornerback JoJo Nicolas; and tight end Dyron Dye.

Also alleged to have violated NCAA rules: current UM basketball player DeQuan Jones. The remaining two, and their sports, have not been revealed.

The 12 football players were alleged in a lengthy Yahoo! Sports report to have received impermissible benefits from former booster and convicted Ponzi schemer Nevin Shapiro. Among the alleged benefits were food, drinks and entertainment at Shapiro’s $6 million Miami Beach home, VIP access in nightclubs, and entertainment and food at a bowling alley in which Shapiro allegedly had a one-time “bowling-for-dollars” tournament.

Stacey Osburn, the NCAA’s associate director of public and media relations, told The Miami Herald in a phone interview that she could not comment on any specific cases, but elaborated on aspects of the process. In a reinstatement situation, any decision involves only that specific player and the facts presented. It is separate from the overall investigation of the institution, although if it is later found that a reinstatement decision is based on lies told by an athlete, the institution is subject to more severe penalties.

“The reinstatement decision regarding the student-athlete’s eligibility is completely independent of the investigative process that determines the school’s responsibility,” Osburn said. “So as soon as the facts are determined regarding the student-athlete’s involvement, then the reinstatement process can begin. The reinstatement process is likely to conclude well before the close of an investigation.”

Osburn said the NCAA enforcement staff that reviews eligibility cases for individual athletes rules on about 1,200 cases a year.

“As soon as they have all the information they need,” she said, “they prioritize the cases based on the student-athlete’s next likely missed competition.”

It’s up to the university

Osburn said the school first has to decide “whether or not it is comfortable competing with that student-athlete.” If the school determines the athlete might have committed an NCAA violation, then the athlete is declared ineligible and the process of reinstatement begins.

“The school puts forward to the NCAA the set of facts regarding the violation and the student-athlete’s role and responsibility for those violations,” Osburn said. “In addition, they will put forward what we call any mitigating circumstances — any specific facts about that situation that the school believes warrants some sort of relief or lessening of the penalty. The NCAA would look at all those facts and determine the appropriate penalty.”

If the school isn’t happy with an athlete’s penalty, it can appeal to the NCAA’s student-athlete reinstatement committee — on which UM deputy athletic director Tony Hernandez serves. Hernandez would have to recuse himself in any case involving a UM player.

As for the bigger picture in an NCAA investigation of a university, the entire process by the NCAA enforcement staff can be lengthy.

“The average case takes 11 months,” Osburn said. “Other cases, six or seven months. But there have been some cases that have taken years.”

NCAA president Mark Emmert said last week that the NCAA began investigating Miami in March.

Google Adsense HoopLa!

August 10, 2011 in General, Making Money

Ok, so I know alot of people make money with google adsense program. Well I signed up for this and finally got approved and placed some ads on this site and another site. Many of my office co-workers check out this site and most likely clicked on the advertisements. But guess what, they disabled my account! I had only 3 or 4 clicks total on any of my ads that were being displayed! That is completely unfair after having the account for 2 days and I get banned! I am starting to think google adsense DOES NOT WORK! I cant even talk to a real person to get explanation. I wanted to be able to run ads on my multiple websites but I get no chance now. Google doesn’t care I suppose. I will run ads from other sites and see how that goes. I just dont understand when I want to do the right thing toward google, I get no “PERSONAL” response from anyone at google. Only a link to explain invalid clicks. Now tell me if its worth it to even sign up and want to earn a little extra money with ads you display when probably before you earn the minimum of $100 you will get your account disabled! It is not right! So for anyone beginning to think about trying to earn money with google adsense program, BE WARE, you might not last a week! Do not send your site to an office network because google will see it as invalid clicks. they should have it setup if they dont accept clicks from the same domain/ip address they should fix it where once 1 click comes from that IP address then there will be no other money sent to that adsense account if someone clicks from that IP address! many other advertising ad places out there have this in place. Come on Google fix it! Anyone else have this issue? I would love to hear from you on it! I have a feeling my site wont be searched by google anymore. That will just be lovely. I will add more to this post later after I calm down a bit.

Ok, now that I have still not calmed down, the ads you see is from a different location. if these start working I will blog about this site I got these ads from! stay tuned!

July 25, 2011 in Making Money

Recently I have been searching all over the internet trying to find a part time job to make money online or work from home. There are so many scams out there, I could not believe it. I hated to pay for anything knowing that most likely it would not turn out to make anything. One day I ran across this on google and found this site Dataentryjobs.us and decided to give it a try. It is run by Rackspace Outsourcing

I have just started it and already made $2.00 within a few minutes. Its not alot, but it was in the free portion of the site. Check it out!

Update: 7 Days ago I sent in a payment in the payment portion of the website. It said after payment was accepted, your account would be activated within 24 to 48 hours. This NEVER happened. After going through paypal I was awarded my Money back. www.dataentryjobs.us is the same company as www.online-home-jobs.com. This job is a scam from my personal experience.

As far as the free portion of the site, I have not recieved my minimum number of $100.00 to see if I will actually recieve this money yet. Clicking the link at the beginning of this blog will allow me to gain 50 cents.

Any comments are appreciated.

Overcoming ADHD

January 29, 2011 in Children

It can be a nightmare when your child is struggling with ADHD. Let’s face it, It can be heart wrenching when you watch your child trying hard to concentrate, get frustrated and then lead into another hyperactive tantrum…receiving notes and phone calls from exhausted and upset teachers. You lie awake at night feeling shame and guilt that it could be your fault….or wondering and worrying with good reason about the horrible, lasting effects of ADHD medication…feeling helpless…not knowing where to get help. Most ADHD families have a desperate desire to escape from the ADHD/ADD nightmare, live a calm harmonious life, escape the cycle of drugs and regain a sense of control. Overcoming ADHD provides a variety of suggestions a parent, caregiver, teacher, or counselor can follow, to move a child along. Despite what you may have heard ADHD is not a disease. The fact is Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder – commonly referred to as ADHD – is a developmental disorder that can affect many adults throughout life.

ADHD is often treated and medicated as a disease.  Doctors are so busy and prescription drugs may seem a simple way to solve the problem of ADHD.  There is so much research on the dangerous side affects of these prescription drugs. There are far too many suggestions to mention here. The important thing is that each proposed game, exercise, or activity is explained in easy-to-follow detail and must be consistently used. Especially important are the activities to help children feel good about them selves. The book tells of Mark, a boy with low self-esteem. After talking with both Mark and his parents, it surfaced that Mark’s mother was overwhelmed by her son’s problems. His father simply felt Mark was acting out in school and tended to be harsh with him. After some counseling, Mark’s father started having hang-out time on a regular basis with his son. The two began to bond. Father saw Mark in a different light and took an active role in his interest in magic. The important issue is that this child’s abilities improved in many interrelated areas. As they changed, so did his self-esteem and his overall school performance. Did it happen overnight or in a week? No, it took many months, not just one or two. But family, school, and therapists all working together to pull Mark through in a loving, safe, dynamic home environment, accomplished a change in this boy that will last a lifetime — and the magic is: it was done without pills. I would highly recommend any parent, educator, doctor, psychologist, psychiatrist, or minister to read Overcoming ADHD and apply its suggestions to their charges, if they seriously want to help a child or adult typically labeled ADHD. The book is written in layman’s terms. It is fascinating. It is extremely well organized. It is hopeful and easy to follow. It just might start a more promising life for a problem child! When you become familiar with what ADHD is and how it presents itself, it is often easier to identify those who have the disorder.  So many people have misconceptions of ADHD, and it’s time to put those misconceptions in the vault and lock them away forever! So to put it simple:

1. Keep doing what you’re doing and put up with the ADHD/ADD.  Struggle along and try your best to get through the day and night…OR

2. You can stick with what you are taking now and maybe get some relief. Trouble is, many drugs have harmful side effects.  It’s like putting a band aid on a major wound…OR

3. Take a stand and be recognized in your family for being a fast moving, action taking, proactive person who turned your family into a happy, calm and harmonious family.  You deserve it…

Anxiety Free Child

January 29, 2011 in Children

By ending your child’s battle with anxiety, their whole life can move quickly in a much more positive direction and change for the better. Would you like to learn how you can help your child feel more confident, secure in their own body and mind, and most of all, happy again by discovering how they can shatter the anxiety, nerves, and fear that may be holding them back. Anxiety Free Child Program is a system that will help you do this. Untreated anxiety can devastate the life of your child. I’m a parent too, and I know there’s nothing worse than to see your child suffering with anxiety and feeling powerless to help them. Anxiety can rob your child of the life they deserve and were meant to have – one filled with joy, laughter, and fun. Left untreated, your child’s anxiety can lead to problems for them at school, with friends, with their self-esteem, and with their health. Said simply, it can steal their childhood. Without help, children with anxiety often endure severe social problem’s, have poor school performance, physical illnesses, or depression. Their anxiety can continue to grow to the point where they seem to be constantly worried or fearful – not having fun like children should be having. Children who struggle with anxiety are much more prone to becoming anxious adults that may struggle their whole lives with fear. As a matter of fact, research has shown that up to 90% of adults with anxiety disorders battled anxiety as a child. Problem anxiety can also predispose your child to other mental health problems and dangerous behaviors such as cutting, drug and alcohol abuse, or even suicide. The good news is that your child doesn’t have to suffer with anxiety any longer. Your child can overcome their anxiety without the side effects of dangerous medications, without expensive useless therapy! Some of the common symptoms that most children experience with anxiety are, Unexplained physical symptoms such as headaches and stomachaches, Being nervous, jittery, and hypersensitive, Decreased school performance or a lack of concentration, Avoidance of social activities or not wanting to spend as much time with friends, Tics, nervous habits, or compulsive behavior such as nail biting or hair pulling, Dangerous behavior such as cutting or drug and alcohol abuse, Excessive moodiness or outbursts of anger, Persistent worry that seems unjustified for the situation, Sleep changes or activity level changes, School avoidance or refusal, Being unusually or overly self-critical, A high need for reassurance, Outbursts of anger or oppositional behavior, even though you know in your heart they’re a good kid, they just have all this anxious energy coming out all wrong!

I have experienced this with my 9 year old sister. My parents adopted her when she was 18 months old and her mother was a drug addict so in return my sister has to suffer from all of these problems because of what her birth mother did! This is a very hard thing to go through and every little bit helps! This is a very good program that has helped a lot of people help their children! If you find yourself recognizing some of the symptoms above, you owe it yourself and your child to check into this “The anxiety-free child program”. Your child isn’t strange, sick, or weird. Their anxiety isn’t a disease. It’s more of what I call a “mental misunderstanding”. We all have a self-preservation mechanism built into us called the “fight or flight” response. It’s been there for thousands and thousands of years and it did a wonderful job of keeping the human race safe instead of being eaten by saber toothed tigers! Whenever it senses a threat, it very quickly prepares your body to do one of two things…fight off the threat, or run away from it. It accomplishes this by rapidly pumping your body full of stress chemicals like adrenaline and cortisol, so you’re as alert, focused, and strong as possible. It makes sweat pour off you, makes your heart thump in your chest, and makes it almost impossible to think about anything else except the immediate threat at hand. It happens to you, it happens to me, and it happens to your child. It’s been with us since we lived in caves, and it’s not going away anytime soon. You’ve probably even experienced this reaction firsthand. Have you ever just narrowly avoided a car accident? Remember how one second you were driving along and then the next second you reacted instantly to avoid the crash? Your world seemed to slow down, and you didn’t THINK, you just REACTED. Even when you realized you were safe, your heart was pounding, sweat was dripping off you, and you felt like you had enough energy to run a marathon. Maybe your legs were shaking from so much adrenaline that you had to sit and wait for a moment until you felt ok to drive again your fight or flight reaction was a great thing to have that day, right? It did a fantastic job protecting you, just like it’s supposed to. When it’s appropriate, the fight or flight reaction is great, but it’s not so wonderful when anxiety mistakenly triggers the reaction, and that’s what your child may be experiencing. It’s not that the reaction itself is wrong it’s that the timing is horrible! Now you know that the way to overcoming your child’s anxiety is to first stop the cycle of anxiety from occurring and then to change the old limiting neural pathways of anxiety, worry, and fear, and replace them with new habits of confidence and calm. The problem is that all of this occurs on a very deep, primitive, and emotional level, and is why so many programs and therapies for anxiety fail. They attempt to correct an emotional, automatic, and instinctual problem on a logical level…it just won’t work! Traditional talk therapy attempts to “explain” to your child why they don’t need to be anxious. Let me ask you, do you think your child is CHOOSING to be afraid? Do you think you just need someone to TELL THEM they’ll be fine and to stop worrying? Haven’t you already done that? Did it help? I didn’t think so.  So please take time and check out “The Anxiety-Free Child Program” .  It will help you better understand your child.   Your child can’t help themselves, they need YOU to help them overcome their anxiety.
